We’ve all heard of scammers everywhere. But they have entered the realm of puppy selling now.
Beware of people selling you cheaper puppies from an online site. It might look all legit but sometimes it’s not.
We are all amazed at how much we have to fork over for a pure bred puppy these days. Average price for chihuahuas are $2000 due to their small litter size. If you see ads or a website of someone offering puppies at a cheaper price it could be a scam.
One woman who tried to get a better deal has been scammed, and you could be too.
Cheap Puppies Out of Town
Debbie has just lost $500 to an online scammer.
Someone in St. Louis, MO was advertising female pug puppies cheap.
“He was asking $370 supposedly for the dog, and $120 for the flight, so with Money Gram fees it came to $511,” she said.
“I was supposed to get the dog the next day,” she says. “But there was no dog.”
She had become a victim of a growing scam, where sellers create elaborate websites and ads showing beautiful puppies at low prices.
When she finally go the seller to respond to a text and she asked where the puppy was, the seller responded saying “I am at the agency now, trying to make the finalization.”
He explained there had been some issues, and then told her she’d have to pay another $500 for insurance, before he could ship the pups.
At that point she realized she had been had.
Make sure never to pay anything unless you’ve actually seen your pup and you’re sure he gets to go home with you. It’s so easy to get scammed when you’re emotionally involved. We love our dogs and we are more vulnerable when it comes to them. So please stay alert and make sure you to watch out for signs of trouble. If anything seems to good to be true it might just be.
